Every once in a while Webmaster Steve likes to send me the log files from the website, so that I can look over them and see how many people visit the site and where they all came from. I can see stuff like the search terms they used to find this website, the country they live in, which pages are visited the most, and which files are downloaded.
While I am always impressed with how many people visit BobNarley.com and download all of our comedy audio and parody songs, the one thing that amazes me the most is all of the different countries that our visitors live in. People visit this site from all over the globe, and not just a few places, from everywhere.
As you can imagine, most of our visitors are from the United States. I’m well known in some parts of this country, although completely unknown in most of it. Since most of our comedy is in English, it makes sense that most of our visitors would be from English speaking countries.
For a long time, Australia would send the second most amount of traffic. I’m not sure if it’s because of their wonderful sick sense of comedy, or the fact that a couple of magazines in Australia have features stories on the website.
After Australia, the next most popular countries were Great Britain, Ireland, and Canada. This is, however, not the case anymore.
Believe it or not, the Netherlands and then China now surpass Australia in our visitors.
Wow! The Netherlands? Really?! And then China! China? What?
Here are the stats in order of the most visitors:
USA
The Netherlands
China
Australia
European Union
? Unknown
Great Britain
Canada
Brazil
Germany
Japan
South Korea
Sweden
Croatia
Yugoslavia
Russian Federation
Italy
France
South Africa
Spain
Hong Kong
Belgium
Czech Republic
United Arab Emirates
Uganda
And many more…
As crazy as this all sounds, and it does seem pretty crazy to me, all of these countries didn’t just send a couple of visitors, they sent thousands and thousands.
How do they read the navigation? Do they understand the songs?
When my friends and I started making the comedy audio back in the early 90’s, we did it simply for fun, and to bring a little laughter into this world. We never expected to make any money, which is a good thing as we never have, however the compliments from listeners and audience members was more than enough to keep us motivated through the hours of hard work.
The fact that people from all over the world are now enjoying the material that we all worked so hard to complete is really amazing. It’s a great feeling, and I know I speak for all of my friends when I say “Thanks for Visiting! Thanks for Listening! And Come Back Soon!”
