We're Going On iTunes

You may already know that the popular Bob Narley Show comedy podcasts, rated with 5 stars by FHM Magazine, are already available through iTunes, however in about 6 weeks our first album "Smokin" will be released to iTunes for the very first time.

Many of the songs from our first album are already available on this website for Free Download. Songs like: Hey Man Nice Fart, Bar B Q Pigs, Scratch That Beaver, can be listened to for Free and even downloaded, provided you have registered. (Registration is also Free).

Once the music is available on iTunes, we will be removing the Free download feature from the website on any songs available on iTunes. You will still be able to listen to them for Free, just not download them. We will provide links to the iTunes downloads.

Releasing this material to iTunes was actually a very hard decision for me. We never set out to make any money with these productions, and that still isn't our intent, as odd as that sounds. I love the fact that even if you have no money (which i can relate to), you can always come to BobNarley.com and listen and download great comedy productions. Removing the Free MP3 download feature is against a lot of the principals that I believe in, however after a very long discussion on this topic, I have decided it's time to grow.

The reason for the new iTunes release is two fold. First, it will open the music and comedy productions up to a much larger audience that I can do with only this website and my radio exposure. Second, I'm hoping that it will help raise a little money that I can put right back into some much needed recording equipment, and expenses for creating even more new comedy productions.

Creating all of the comedy that you hear on this website isn't Free. Equipment costs money. The website hosting costs tons of money. I could go on and on. Up to now, the little bit of money that was generated from merchandise sales and pay for live gigs has all gone right back into the production. In fact, it hasn't even covered the costs that I and some of my friends have contributed to this project. In order to move forward, we need more finances, and this is one of the ways that I think might help.

Earlier this year, we put together a game plan for several new productions.

The amazing sucess of the podcast has spawned a lot of global interest in our comedy and we would like to build upon these ideas. Scripts have been written for new video-casts of several of the Podcast elements including "Let's Rate the Pot", "The Union Guys", and "Satancast". In order to produce these features we will need to invest in some video production equipment, mostly cameras and field microphones. The production studio is already set up to edit digital video.

A new album is being written, and while it's summer to most of us, I'm actually sitting in my studio writing a Christmas album that needs to be released by November. This means the music and lyrics need to be done by September, for an October recording, and November release. This is a fairly ambitious undertaking, but I feel it's a worthwhile one. Our holiday comedy pieces have always been the most downloaded items on this website, and the favorites of many radio stations around the world.

As you can see, we tend to bite off more than we can chew.

After "Smokin" is released, another album containing some previously unreleased material along with some new material will be released to iTunes. Songs like "Sporting a Penis" and "Smells Like Fish" will be included on this new album.

Again, as new material is released on iTunes, the Free downloads will no longer be offered. Free listening will always be an option.

"Butterball", "Crusty the Snowman", "Most Wonderful Time to Drink Beer", as well as some new songs, will all be included in the new Christmas album. So far, it looks like I might call it "A Killer Kona Christmas".

So download the Free MP3's while you can, time is running out.

iTunes charges less than $1 US for downloading a song or comedy bit. I hope that you will consider it a fair price to pay for the hard work we all put into these productions and perhaps even consider it "contributing to the cause".

For now, everything is still available to download. Take advantage of it while you can. In 6 weeks The Killer Kona Buds album "Smokin" hits iTunes. 6 weeks later, the next album will be released. This fall, a new holiday album will hit iTunes.

I’m excited about the growth possibilities, and hope you won’t find it too much of an inconvenience.

Oh No! Mr. Wizard!

Every time I see your screne name I think "drizzle drazzle drazzle drone.. time for dis one to come home."
